****Tazo's Passion Herbal Infusion is a somewhat tart, deep, flavorful (hibiscus-y tasting) tea. It is caffeine-free.Tazo is an interesting company that makes only super premium teas. It's difficult to describe what hibiscus tastes like, but I find it a most pleasant taste. Although Passion contains licorice root it is not sweet.
Tazo describes the aroma as "sweet, juicy, red fruits". They are socially responsible, based in Portland, and have the motto, "The Reincarnation of Tea". Their web site is fun and quirky, with a Zen-type focus, definitely worth checking out. I would rate this tea, and Tazo in general, as very good---better than premium teas like Stash or Celestial Seasonings---but not as good as Numi. It is unclear, though, from their web site, how many of their ingredients are organic or kosher, and they do use some "natural flavors" in their teas--this wording seems a little vague for a super premium tea.On the paper tea packet, Tazo writes, "A tantalizing deep red tea made from hibiscus flowers, exotic herbs and natural tropical flavors." On their web site, Tazo describes the flavor profile of Passion as "berry, juicy, wine-like, merlot, sweet, earthy, dense". It is not berry-like in taste, although it is red in color.
Tazo is owned by Starbucks. I'm soooooo spoiled by Numi teas, which is why Tazo Passion gets only four stars.**** My husband says it tastes like pomegranate to him. The ingredients in Passion are: hibiscus flowers, natural tropical flavors, citric acid, orange peel, licorice root, cinnamon bark, rose hips, lemongrass and red poppy.
It is so good when you have a sore throat, too. I'm not the type of person to try different kinds of teas, but when i was at a meeting that did not offer regular tea, i decided to try this one, because of the purple package. It is the BEST tea i have ever had.
This tea leaves a tingle on your tongue and I think it goes very well with a spoonful of honey.I do think you need two tea bags for each cup of tea to fully intoxicate the senses and experience the magic of the ingredients.Caffeine Free. I don't know why; I stumbled upon it, but it is working. This tea, especially iced, has cured my morning sickness. I drink about a 16 oz glass in the am and have some again when I start to feel ill in the afternoon.
It is caffeine and sugar and calorie free. Then I drink some hot and refrigerate the rest. :) Stop in at Starbucks and try it hot or cold. This is my favorite all time beverage. and then order it from Amazon by the case. I put about four or five teabags into a twelve-cup coffee maker and run the hot water through and let it steep for about five minutes. :)
The tea is a beautiful red color after it is brewed. :) I first found the tea at Starbucks and started loving it there-- but the price here at Amazon is much much better, too. It is always refreshing, flavorful, and delicious. I love it hot. It is the best herbal tea I have ever tasted-- and it has been a favorite for more than a year now.
For people who want to drink more water but aren't excited by the idea, this herbal tea may change your mind. It is a wonderful base for smoothies, for punch, and I will probably try it as a popsicle at some point, too. It is better than any Kool-Aid, and much much much richer and better and more satisfying than anything by Celestial Seasonings. It tastes a little bit like berries, and it is a little sweet(but not too sweet). I love it cold.
